Preparándolos para la vida




Hola!

 En marzo tuve la visita de mis amigos Carlos y Anahi  que vinieron a pasar  una semana desde Perú. Usualmente en este curso  semanal  se reciben clases diarias y los estudiantes me acompañan durante todo el día observando e interactuando en diferentes actividades. 

 Por las tardes siempre trato de pasar un buen rato trabajando con los  potros ; los bebés como les llamo yo ! Después de unos días Carlos y Anahi  empezaron a  ayudarnos con potros y me sugirieron documentarlo ! Así es que este blog es gracias a ellos! 


 Los invito a acompañarme a  desarrollar los  7 potros de un año.
A esta edad están listos para aprender cosas nuevas y no hay tiempo que perder!
Vamos a incluir en su rutina diaria el aprendizaje  que los convertirá en caballos  seguros y fáciles de manejar, con buenos modales y una respuesta positiva a la presión que  ejercen los procedimientos del manejo y salud  que necesitamos realizar a los caballos.

Semana a semana describiré cómo va el proceso  y las diferentes reacciones de cada uno; esto me emociona muchísimo pues aprenderemos cómo tratar a cada individuo dependiendo de su horsenality. El objetivo es: caballos  tranquilos, que confíen en nosotros lo cual les ayudara a interactuar en el ambiente humano el resto de sus vidas.

Solamente a Hendrix y  Hechicera  no se les hizo el proceso de imprinting porque no nacieron en la misma finca ; el destete fue hecho de manera progresiva para evitar el trauma que causa cuando se realiza de manera abrupta. Viven en  el potrero durante la mañana  donde juegan y comen juntos; desarrollando lazos de amistad y también habilidades que van a determinar la jerarquía en la manada. Desde muy pequeños son manejados a diario, así que  están acostumbrados a usar el gamarrón y a ser llevados de su cuadra al potrero. Por la tarde vuelven a sus cuadras e interactuamos con ellos regularmente ; todos los días se les limpian sus cascos y también jugamos los primeros tres juegos del método Parelli ( Friendly, Porcupine and Driving ).

Aquí comienza la aventura!

Tengo como propósito enseñarles esta serie de habilidades y seguramente  en el camino surgirán otras !

1- Manejo de como ser llevados apropiadamente y cómo entrar a la cuadra de forma segura y respetuosa .

2- Aprender a estar amarrado y tranquilo en cualquier lugar.

3- Preparación para el herrero.

4-Aplicación del spray para moscas.

5- Introducción de los elementos para su monta ( mantillón - cincha - montura)

6- Agujas ! Cómo confiar y estar quietos a la hora de ser inyectados o para la toma de sangre.

7-  Cómo subir al pedestal, la cual es una preparación para subir a la carreta o remolque. 

8- Subir a la carreta.

    Me interesa tanto seguir el proceso de estos potros!!! Como aprendizaje claro, pero tengo además un nexo sentimental ya que los vi nacer a la mayoría de ellos !!

Train Your Seat Trainers Forum

This summer, I had the most incredible opportunity to travel to the Netherlands for the Train Your Seat Trainers Forum. I have to say, it was nothing short of magical. But this trip was even more special because I got to share it with my wonderful friend and colleague, Trish Tweddell. We had a fantastic time together, and I can't wait to tell you all about it. A weekend at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Florida.

This week I had the great fortune of visiting Ocala and to be present at one of the first events held at WEC During my last visits I have witnessed the construction process from it’s beginning,   when the first movements of land were carried out, and year before last around this time the stables were under way; but there is nothing comparable to being in the finished installations with warm up arenas, competition arenas, covered arenas, stadium, stalls, corrals, showrooms, stores, hotel and even a chapel! Made with a wonderful vision with every amenity necessary in order to host great equestrian events; the sensation is similar to being at Disney for horse lovers! This equestrian complex is the largest one in the United States and it is very impressive!   Ocala is a 4 hour drive from Miami, it is one of the cities in the United States with the highest number of horses.
